With our example we want to encourage the development of an own environmental performance evaluation for Internet technology based companies.

Our form of green accounting is in a condition of progressional change and adjustment, to enable comparisons.

The office SCOiD uses the energy offering of co-operative Greenpeace energy eG http://www.greenpeace-energy.de

I am client of Lichtblick-Gas, a gas-provider who delivers 5% biogas, although it comes from intensive mass animal farming.... The percentage will go up in times to come. We had to take the town gas from E.ON, because it was the monopolist supplier for gas in Hamburg until 2008.

Careful handling with energy

All consumers, inclusively their power supply units will be switched off completely when quitting the work place.

Raw materials

Consumables supplies (recycling paper/ ink consumption) are restriczed to a minimum and only to prints of documents.

Recycling

Waste separation into crude materials/ extra toxic waste disposal/ compostable waste goes into the bio-waste container.

Transport

Telecommuting. Use of bicycles and public transport.

At the home office electric power from Stadtwerke-Ulm (municipal utility Ulm) are consumed, unfortunately we have no influence here, because we depend on the landlord. The building is equipped with a photovoltaic solar power plant, solar thermal collectors and an extra reduced-emission gas condensing boiler (no chimney sweeping since 10 years!!).

All consumers, inclusively their power supply units will be switched off completely when quitting the work place.!
Cosequently only devices with the required output with the lowest enrgy consumption are used (TFT, energy saving lamps, energy saving PCs, switchable multiway connectors). Server are supplied for the time being for reasons of economy with casual-electric-power.

Raw materials

Application of printers with seperately changeable ink tanks. Misprints are used as concept paper. The furnishing of the work place consists, as far as possible out of articles from renewable primary products (e.g. paper trays made from wood)

Telecommuting. Use of feet, bicycles and public transport.
